Nail-biting finish at Europeans at Lake Garda

Podium Europeans 2018

After a nail-biting finish Søren Dulong Andreasen from Denmark won his second European Championship in the Contender Class after 2014. Marco Ferrari from Italy, who was leading until the last day, finished 2nd and Antonio Lambertini, the Italian World Champion from 2012, finished 3rd.
At the beginning of the week Marco Ferrari showed a very dominant performance with scoring only 1st and 2nd places in the first 3 days. But then the flying Dane proved once again that he should never be written off by winning 3 of the last 4 races. With strong nerves and determination he is the deserved winner of the Championship. Especially after his neck injury last year that forced him to miss the worlds on his home waters this must be a great relief.
Female European Champion is Fiona Collins from the UK. Best junior was Peter Schafft who was also the youngest competitor at age 16.
Matthias Körnig, Junior World Champion form 2017, won the Silver Fleet.

Top Ten after 10 races:
1. Søren Dulong Andreasen, DEN
2. Marco Ferrari, ITA
3. Antonio Lambertini, ITA
4. Davide Fontana, ITA
5. Graham Scott, GBR
6. Dirk Müller, GER
